Why I Founded “I Have a Dream Ltd” on August 28th
August 28th is not just a date. It’s a divine intersection.
1955 – Emmett Till
On August 28th, 1955, 14-year-old Emmett Till was lynched in Mississippi.
His mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, made a choice that changed history:
“I want the world to see what they did to my baby.”
She held an open-casket funeral.
The image of her son’s body shocked the world and ignited the Civil Rights Movement.
1955: A mother’s courage sparked a movement.
1963 – Dr. King’s Dream
Exactly 8 years later, on August 28th, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood at the Lincoln Memorial and declared his dream.
Over 250,000 people gathered to hear it.
One dream. Declared before the world.
2005 – Hurricane Katrina
August 28th, 2005. The eve of devastation.
Katrina hit New Orleans, and the world watched as the most vulnerable were left behind.
The storm exposed more than broken levees. It exposed broken systems.
2020 – Chadwick Boseman
On August 28th, 2020, we lost Chadwick Boseman the man who brought Black Panther to life while privately battling cancer.
His passing felt like the silent handover of purpose.
That same year, we also witnessed the murder of George Floyd.
I was interviewed on BBC Radio as a Black British mother of two sons.
I described racism as paper cuts, tiny, daily stings that pile up.
But 2020? That was a gash. A wound.
One that couldn’t be covered by a plaster.
One that demanded deeper healing.
And so, in 2020, I made a decision.
I wanted my sons and every child to grow up in a world with more light than darkness.
I didn’t know what that would look like.
So I listened. I prayed. I searched.
In 2021, I sat in a church where Bishop T.D. Jakes was preaching.
He asked:
“How will you use your platform?”
He spoke about Noah removing the door from the ark and laying it down as a platform for the animals to walk on.
That message landed in my soul like thunder.
From that moment until now, I’ve been answering that question.
And today, I’m finally sharing my answer
I Have a Dream Ltd
A company built on purpose.
A brand built on healing.
A platform called GODx, where stories become light.
It’s TEDx, but for testimonies.
It’s Netflix, meets the Bible App, with the emotional intelligence of a sanctuary.
No ads. No algorithms. No pressure to perform.
Just real people. Sharing real stories.
So we can build a world where more people are walking in their light.
Thank you for reading.
And thank you to everyone who’s walked beside me on this journey.
Let there be light.
