Good morning, beautiful people!
Today marks the official start of our long-awaited summer family holiday. After years of juggling work, parenting, and everything in between, the thought of taking a week off seemed unimaginable. But guess what? We're doing it!
For the past two decades, my husband and I have been hustling, living life on the edge, and getting paid only when we work. Vacations and holidays were distant dreams, as we invested any unexpected money into personal development and training. We were all about that "work hard, no play" mindset.
However, a shift occurred in 2018 when my mom passed away. It made me reconsider the balance between risk and reward. Traveling for work made sense, but traveling for pleasure felt frivolous. I thrive when I'm focused and driven, setting meticulous goals. But then our boys pleaded for a vacation, so we decided to make our honeymoon a family trip to Barcelona. After all, they were thrilled to spend time with their cousins there.
So here we are, dedicating this week to relaxation and soaking up the sun. But you know what's funny? Last night at dinner, my husband, Terrance, said, "I think I'd like to work tomorrow. I have a lot to do." And you know what? I smiled and said, "Me too!" We can't help it; we love what we do!
It reminds me of a quote by Seth Godin that resonates with us: "Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don't need to escape from." And that's exactly what we're doing—building a life where work is not a burden but a source of joy and fulfilment.
Happy Monday, everyone! Let's make this week shine brighter than the sun we'll be basking under! 🌞
