I love helping people break free from limiting beliefs attached to their self-concept—the image or idea we have about ourselves. It's like our perception of our abilities, behaviors, and characteristics that form over time.
Last year, I worked with a lady in her 40s who felt crippled by anxiety. We starred working together, using the 12 steps in my book.
During our first session, we painted a visual picture of how she wanted to be in the world. Then we worked backwards, identifying the gap between where she was and where she wanted to be. It all starts with detaching from who you think you are and reinventing yourself into who you want to be.
This lady wanted to be confident. So we
started with a simple task of greeting strangers with 'Good morning,' she struggled with feelings of inferiority and felt uncomfortable giving eye contact.
After three weeks she was walked taller, took care of her appearance, and enjoyed the feeling of taking action. Her confidence was growing rapidly. A year on and she messaged me to say, she’s doing really good.
Remember, reinventing yourself doesn't mean becoming someone else entirely. It means evolving into the person you need to become to achieve your goals. You do this by transforming into the person you aspire to be.
You've got this!
