How to Create a Workshop
Creating a workshop isn’t about cramming information into slides. It’s about designing a transformational experience.
When I delivered my very first workshop back in 2020, I was nervous. I had the content, but I didn’t yet understand the process. What I’ve learnt since then is that a powerful workshop follows a simple structure.
Here’s my 5-step framework:
1. Who are you talking to?
This is always the starting point. Get clear on your audience.
Who are they?
What do they care about?
What problem keeps them up at night?
2. What’s the outcome?
Ask yourself: what should they walk away with?
Workshops aren’t lectures—they’re bridges. Build a clear before & after.
3. What’s the journey?
Map the flow. Start where they are, end where you want them to be.
Think: story arc. Hook → teach → apply → reflect.
4. How will they engage?
Workshops are not passive. Add activities, reflections, role-plays, or group discussions.
People learn by doing, not just by listening.
5. What’s the feeling?
People remember how you made them feel more than what you said.
Decide: do you want them to leave feeling inspired, empowered, challenged, confident? Design for that.
